Review: The Reaper by RuNyx
5++++++++ STARS || Forever Favorite Series, Tristan Caine is my BAE
The Reaper is fantastic gold, let me tell you. I loved this follow-up to The Predator.
So. Much. Love.
Beautifully written, and deeply romantic, with suspenseful mystery, mafia machinations, and oh-my-god, Tristan.

Tristan freaking Caine.
After the finale of The Predator I knew I was in for it with The Reaper and wowza it did not disappoint. Answers to questions from the previous novel are answered while a truckload more questions are asked. And oh, my, Dante is next and eek! I can’t wait to see what happens for him and Amara. Can. Not. Wait.
The character growth in The Reaper was breathtaking, nuanced, and beautiful.
Morana finally finds answers to her past and wow, it’s a doozy. Why is she tied to Tristan? The reveal is heartbreaking.
As Morana works through her feelings and maneuvers the dangerous politics of those who wish her dead, all while discovering more mysteries to be solved and falling farther down the rabbit hole of her love for Tristan, her caveman. It was absolutely wonderful to observe life blooming in Morana, her character growth is everything. As she begins to feel, begins to embrace how she feels for Tristan, it’s gorgeous.
“His demons dance with mine,”
And Tristan. My book boyfriend for life. I love him. I loved him before. I love him even more now. And that epilogue, omg. I could read books about Tristan forever. Seriously. While his words are few, they are impactful when he does speak. It’s his actions, every glance, every movement that speaks volumes, screams so loudly with ruptured eardrums just what an amazing incredible man this character truly is. Fascinating. Magnificent. His arc, his growth, his back story, his tragedy, it’s everything. everything. everything.
“He wanted to tell her that love was too tame a word for everything that happened inside him where she was concerned. She had shifted him, realigned him from the inside out. Like a planet that suddenly pulls a moon into its orbit, she had bound him to her, given him direction for longer than she knew, gave him purpose to exist.
She was his gravity, his fucking planet, and he was lost without her.”
Overall, this was a perfect addition to one of my favorite series that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Genuinely. RuNyx is an incredibly talented author, her ability to craft characters, story, romance, depth, is all encompassing. If you aren’t reading her books, you’re missing out.
If you love mafia romance – read this series. If you love romance – read this series. If you love complex characters – read this seres. If you love books – go read this series. Begin with book one, The Predator, and then strap in ‘cuz you’ll be hooked.
“Give them hell,” he whispered to her.”
